Connect Walkthrough
Step-by-step guide to connecting your WordPress site to your Sanity project via the Altered Digital Worker.
The Connect wizard
Go to Altered Digital → Onboarding Wizard. The 5-step wizard walks you through:
Step 1 — Account login
Enter your Altered Digital email and password. If you don't have an account, create one right from the wizard. Your JWT is stored encrypted in the WordPress options table and refreshed automatically.
Step 2 — Site analysis
Click "Analyze my site." The plugin aggregates:
- Post counts per post type
- Active page builder distribution (Gutenberg / Elementor / WPBakery / Divi / Beaver)
- ACF field group inventory
- Media library count
- Term counts per taxonomy
- Theme info
- 10 sample posts per builder with raw data
This payload is sent to the AI service /api/analyze route, which classifies complexity (low/medium/high) and estimates effort.
Analysis is cached for 24 hours. Re-running it on an unchanged site returns the cached result instantly.
Step 3 — Quote
Review your AI-generated quote with line items and optional add-ons. The quote is persisted to your Altered Digital account in Supabase.
Step 4 — Stripe checkout
Pay 50% upfront. On success, the Stripe webhook marks your quote paid_upfront and unlocks the migration.
Step 5 — Connect Sanity
Enter your Sanity credentials:
- Project ID — found in Sanity Manage → Project
- Dataset — usually
production - API token — create a token with read+write permissions in Sanity Manage → API → Tokens
These are encrypted (AES-GCM with a 32-byte key) and stored per-tenant in the Worker's D1 database. Altered Digital never holds your content — the token is scoped to your project only.
Verifying the connection
After connecting, go to Altered Digital → Settings and confirm:
- Service URL — your Worker URL
- AI Service URL — the Vercel AI service URL
- Webhook URL — auto-populated from the Service URL +
/webhook/wp - Webhook Secret — auto-generated; must match the Worker's stored secret
- Tenant ID — auto-populated after a successful v2 connect
Click Test Connection to verify the Worker is reachable and your tenant config is valid.
Disconnecting
To disconnect a site:
- Go to Altered Digital → Settings
- Clear the Service URL and Tenant ID
- Deactivate the plugin
Your Sanity project is unaffected — all content remains in your Content Lake. The tenant record in D1 is marked inactive (not deleted) so you can reconnect later.
